
Blue Coast or Costa Azul
The Coast to the south of Lisbon is where you find the Setubal Peninsula known as the Costa Azul (blue). The Costa Azul stretches all the way from the Costa Caparica to Setubal and the Sado Estuary or Troia Estuary. This Coast is a hugely popular ears with Lisboans and tourist aslike.
Setubal itself is famous for its fish heritage. (Not just as being the home town of Jose Mourinho!) It is renowned for its many superb fish restaurants and its beauty as it’s surrounded by the Arrabida Natural Park. Stunning beaches mix happily with the estuary environment where you are likely to see dolphins, flamingos and storks going about their daily chores.
It is the wide diversity of landscapes and environments all favoured by the presence of the sea. Truly unique beaches ideal for nautical sports and fishing, four nature reserves and excellent gastronomy.
